Job summary

Hobbsnews is seeking a hands-on CTO / Platform Architect to lead the greenfield buildout of a unified, AI-native learning platform. You will own the technical vision, consolidate legacy systems, and shape the engineering culture with a small high-autonomy team.

You will report to the CEO and work closely with executives to define the stack, standards, and roadmap, while personally contributing to core development and vendor selections. Based in Miami, FL or willing to relocate.

Qualifications

Hands-on senior technical leadership experience, ideally as CTO or Founding Engineer.
Proven track record shipping scalable production software in lean, fast-moving environments.
Experience owning greenfield platform architecture and AWS cloud experience.
Professional fluency in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
Based in or willing to relocate to Miami, FL.

Responsibilities

Define and lead greenfield platform architecture for a unified, AI-native learning system.
Set the technical strategy, stack, architecture patterns, and foundational standards for long-term scalability, security, and maintainability.
Build and mentor a lean senior engineering team with high autonomy.
Collaborate with CEO and executives to translate business goals into technical plans and investment priorities.
Own technology and vendor decisions, including AI services and cloud platforms.
Establish a strong local engineering presence in Miami, FL.
