Rippling is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager (M8) to lead Payments Experience, owning the layer that powers how employers, employees, and contractors move money. You will define a new standard for how people interact with money and build AI-first, performant experiences that simplify complex payments.

This role sits at the center of critical workflows, bridging payroll logic and payment systems to ensure money moves reliably at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience leading organizations of 10+ engineers in high-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to define and evolve architecture of complex, highly available systems.
• Experience building shared platforms, APIs, or foundational capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Own the Payments experience: lead the systems and product layer that define how money moves through execution readiness, status, recovery, and user-facing resolution.
• Build AI-first experiences: use AI to make payments more proactive and understandable—surface anomalies, explain outcomes, anticipate issues, guide users to resolution.
• Platformize and unify payments experience across Rippling: build reusable payment capabilities, APIs, workflows, and abstractions for multiple fintech products.
• Shape long-term strategy: define the roadmap for Payments Experience and the broader payments platform.
• Define the product/platform boundary: establish architecture and operating model separating shared capabilities from product-specific logic.
• Build a world-class payments experience: fast, intuitive, and high-reliability user experiences.
• Build the future of contractor payments: own Balance wallet with modern withdrawal methods.
• Operate at global scale: ensure reliability across high-volume payment systems with observability and fault tolerance.
