Job summary

Broadcom in Palo Alto seeks an ICB5 Staff Engineer for the Network Detection and Research Team (NDRT) to advance AI-enabled threat detection for the vDefend ATP solution in data-center environments.

The role emphasizes deep research into emerging threats, designing scalable detection signatures, and collaborating with a global team. Requires advanced degree and extensive experience with IDPS, Python, Docker, and Kubernetes; on-site 5 days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 12+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree and 10+ years of related experience, or PhD and 7+ years of related experience.
• Strong experience and interest in network security.
• Understanding of IDPS concepts and experience at developing IDS signatures.
• Experience with Python programming language.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes environments.
• Willingness and familiarity in working with AI tools and agentic AI systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep-dive research into emerging network threats to keep IDPS ahead of adversaries.
• Architect and build AI-enabled security solutions for protecting virtual workloads in large-scale data centers.
• Analyze malicious traffic to design and implement robust detection approaches and high-performance signatures.
• Construct and maintain scalable data collection infrastructures with automated feedback loops.
• Translate threat intelligence into actionable detection logic and signatures.
