Simon & Schuster US is modernizing core systems powering order management, fulfillment, partner integration, and financial transactions. As the Full-Stack .NET Developer, you will replace legacy COBOL batch programs with modern .NET services and SQL solutions, validated in parallel with the existing system before cutsovers.

The role expands to modern web front ends as needed. You will work in AI-assisted development, reviewing AI-generated code for correctness, edge cases, and performance,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional full-stack .NET development.
• Experience using AI tools to assist development.
• Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills.
• Back-end service experience (worker/services, batch processing).
• Production mindset with observability and safe deployment practices.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Build modern replacements — implement .NET worker services, APIs, and stored procedures replacing legacy COBOL programs while preserving business behavior.
• Review and refine AI-generated code with engineering judgment for correctness and performance.
• Implement target architecture patterns with structured logging, run telemetry, and clean integration contracts.
• Support validation and cutover — instrument replacements for reconciliation against legacy output and drive packages to a validation gate.
• Resolve complex conversion issues by collaborating with legacy specialists to understand original behavior.
• Contribute to engineering standards by capturing lessons learned and improving shared frameworks.
