Simon & Schuster US is seeking a Full-Stack .NET Developer to join our modernization program. You will replace legacy COBOL batch programs with modern .NET services and SQL solutions, while validating changes against the existing system before production cutovers.

This role emphasizes AI-assisted development, structured logging, and reliable production behavior. You will collaborate with QA, troubleshoot complex conversion issues, and contribute to engineering standards as the team scales.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional full-stack .NET development.
• Experience using AI tools to assist development.
• Strong SQL Server / T-SQL skills.
• Back-end service experience (background/worker services, batch processing).
• Production mindset with monitoring and safe deployment practices.
• Clear written communication for design notes and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build modern replacements with .NET worker services, APIs, and SQL solutions.
• Review and refine AI-generated code with engineering judgment.
• Apply target architecture patterns: structured logging, telemetry, and configuration-driven behavior.
• Support validation and cutover with QA/Test Automation collaboration.
• Resolve complex conversion issues with legacy specialists.
• Contribute to engineering standards and shared templates.
