Job summary

The Bowers Group – A Legence Company in Beltsville, MD is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain modern full‑stack web applications hosted in Microsoft Azure. You will deliver applications, integrations, and data solutions used by W.E.

Bowers teams while collaborating with Legence engineering on shared standards and reusable components. This role emphasizes AI-assisted development using Claude Code from day one, with responsibilities spanning front-end (React), back-end

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 2 to 4 years of professional, post-college experience in full-stack web application development.
• Proficiency with React for front-end development.
• Strong professional experience with Python or Java for back-end development; working knowledge of the other is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience designing, querying, and managing data in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure ecosystem including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI Service, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Hands-on experience with Claude Code or comparable AI coding tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack web applications hosted in Microsoft Azure.
• Develop responsive front-end interfaces using React.
• Build back-end services, APIs, and integrations using Python and/or Java.
• Model, query, and manage data using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric.
• Leverage Claude Code and AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
• Integrate AI capabilities to support users and drive efficiency.
• Maintain and modernize legacy reporting assets, including Crystal Reports tied to Spectrum.
• Collaborate on-site with business users to gather requirements and troubleshoot.
• Coordinate with Legence teams on standards, security, and platform initiatives.
• Document solutions and follow CI/CD best practices.
