Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Architect to define and lead the technical vision for the Finance Technology Platform in Sunnyvale.

You will architect a multi-tenant, AI-native platform for end-to-end financial processing, from ingestion to reconciliation, collaborating with Finance, Controllership, Tax, and Audit leadership. This is a senior IC role focused on architecture, standards, and platform leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience in large-scale distributed transactional systems
• Lead architect experience for a platform used by multiple engineering teams
• Hands-on experience building AI-native applications in production
• Proficiency with modern agentic stacks: retrieval/embedding/agent frameworks
• Experience designing evaluation, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop strategies for AI systems
• Strong foundation in event-driven and event-sourced architectures and industrial-scale data stores
• Experience with ERP/financial systems and document ingestion pipelines
• Track record of technical leadership across large organizations
• Excellent ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executives and engineers
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Define and govern the end-to-end architecture for the Finance Technology Platform at enterprise scale
• Architect a multi-tenant foundation with per-tenant policy and configuration
• Own the agentic architecture and design AI agent workflows and production promotion processes
• Design the agent harness, including interfaces, orchestration, memory management, and validated outputs
• Establish evaluation, safety discipline, and auditability for agentic finance processes
• Set core platform patterns: canonical document model, saga orchestration, sub-ledger, versioned config-based business rules
• Own financial correctness and SOX controls, ensuring immutable event history and deterministic pathways
• Act as senior technical voice for Finance Technology and mentor engineers across teams
