Boom in Austin, TX is on the lookout for a Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations as they scale to $20M ARR. This role requires a CPA or equivalent experience, with a focus on implementing automation.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of ASC 606 compliance.
• Capability to build automation agents in business contexts.
• Experience with multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own accounting operations including monthly close.
• Manage general ledger for accuracy and compliance.
• Oversee revenue recognition and contract setup.
• Prepare for the company’s first audit.
• Design AI-driven automation for accounting.
• Evaluate and implement AI-based accounting tools.
• Manage expense and card program operations.
• Collaborate across functions with RevOps and Finance.

Skills

CPA or equivalent experience

5–8 years of progressive accounting experience

Experience leading financial close

Strong understanding of SaaS metrics

Hands-on experience with AI tools

Ability to optimize accounting systems

Highly organized and detail-oriented

Excellent communication skills

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
