Job summary

HP is seeking a Technical Software Product Manager to own the strategy, design, and execution of desktop optimization software focused on power, battery health, and performance tuning. You will lead on-device AI agents, telemetry analysis, and real-time balancing of longevity with peak performance on Windows systems.

You will translate telemetry into dashboards, define workflows for AI tuning vs. manual control, and work with cross-functional teams to measure engagement and reduce churn.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
• Minimum 5 years shipping consumer or enterprise desktop software.
• Proven track record with Windows system utilities or performance apps.
• Practical experience deploying on-device ML models or small language models (SLMs).
• Solid understanding of OS thread scheduling, background daemons, and RAM management.

Responsibilities

• Define the product vision and multi-year roadmap for the desktop optimization suite.
• Translate silicon telemetry into intuitive UI dashboards.
• Design seamless user workflows for AI tuning and manual control.
• Establish application success metrics for active user engagement and churn reduction.
• Write PRDs for local machine learning models and specify reinforcement learning rewards.
• Define triggers for AI agents to proactively recommend background app hibernation.
• Ensure on-device inference executes with minimal fan noise or thermal throttling.
• Prioritize telemetry pipelines and collaborate with QA on battery-saving metrics.
