Job summary

HP is seeking a Technical Software Product Manager for on-device experiences to drive product strategy and execution across enterprise to consumer apps. You will own on-device AI agents that analyze behavior and telemetry to deliver proactive recommendations and improved device productivity.

Technical Software Product Manager - On-Device Experiences

The Technical Software Product Manager will lead the product strategy, design, and execution for enterprise, commercial, and consumer end-user applications focused on device health, intelligent system optimization, and personalized user experiences. You will own the definition and integration of on-device AI agents that analyze user behavior, system telemetry, and application usage patterns in real time to deliver proactive recommendations, streamline device management, and enhance overall user productivity and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Application services strategy, UX definition
  • Define the product vision and multi-year roadmap for the desktop optimization suite.
  • Translate complex silicon telemetry into intuitive, actionable user interface dashboards.
  • Design seamless user workflows for switching between automated AI tuning and manual control.
  • Establish application success metrics for active user engagement and churn reduction.
  • AI Agent & Feature Execution Write comprehensive Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) for local machine learning models.
  • Specify reinforcement learning rewards that maximize hardware efficiency without lagging.
  • Define the triggers for AI agents to proactively recommend background app hibernation.
  • Ensure local on-device inference executes with zero audible fan noise or thermal throttling.
  • Performance & Telemetry Validation Prioritize engineering backlogs for real-time application-sensing telemetry pipelines.
  • Collaborate with QA to validate battery-saving metrics across diverse hardware form factors.
  • Monitor application footprint to guarantee the software itself uses minimal CPU, GPU, NPU and DRAM.
  • Manage user data privacy guardrails for all local profiling and behavioral analytics.
Required Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Product Experience: Minimum 3 years shipping consumer or enterprise desktop software products.
  • Domain Expertise: Proven track record with Windows applications, device management software, user productivity tools, or system utilities.
  • AI Background: Practical experience deploying on-device ML models, AI agents, or small language models (SLMs).
  • Preferred Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of operating systems, application lifecycle management, telemetry systems, and device management concepts.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience designing software that interacts directly with OEM firmware, driver APIs, or device management services.
  • Familiarity with cross-platform desktop frameworks or native Windows desktop development.
  • Direct experience leveraging DirectML, ONNX Runtime, Windows AI Foundry, or Windows Copilot Runtime frameworks.
  • Experience building AI-enhanced productivity, device management, system insight, or workflow optimization tools.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and data-driven product decision making.

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
