Job summary

Subcritical Systems is seeking a CAD Designer to join our mechanical engineering team and refine ATLAS-generated outputs into production-quality 3D models and drawings in Siemens NX, bridging AI CAD with traditional workflows.

Under the Lead Mechanical Designer, you will validate design intent, develop 3D models for cryomodule components, and contribute to drafting standards, GD&T, and BOMs while exploring AI-assisted drafting tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of professional CAD design or drafting experience.
• Proficiency in Siemens NX (modeling, assemblies, and drafting) with basic GD&T knowledge.
• Interest in AI-based design and automation tools as part of CAD work.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow direction and feedback.
• Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Refine first-pass geometry and templates from ATLAS into production-quality 3D models and drawings.
• Validate outputs against design intent and internal drafting standards before release.
• Apply AI-assisted CAD tools as part of daily modeling and drafting work.
• Develop automation scripts/templates (NX Open, Python) to reduce repetitive tasks.
• Create 3D CAD models for cryomodule components and generate manufacturing-ready drawings.
• Support design reviews and coordinate with engineers to ensure buildable CAD deliverables.
