Job summary

Insight Global in California is seeking an aerospace CAD designer to create and maintain 3D models and drawings using CATIA V5 or NX. This role supports product development through design, drafting, model validation, and cross‑functional coordination with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Under supervision, you will develop 3D models and assemblies, generate 2D drawings and BOMs, apply GD&T, and manage data in PLM systems. Limited travel and mentorship to junior designers are possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of design and drafting experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or engineering environment.
• Significant hands-on experience with CATIA V5 or NX (approximately 6,000+ hours preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering documentation, including GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain complex 3D models and assemblies.
• Produce 2D drawings, BOMs, and digital technical packages.
• Apply GD&T standards and drive tolerance analyses.
• Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to support product development.
• Utilize PLM systems for configuration control and data management.
• Review and validate models and drawings completed by others.
• Support tooling, fixtures, and other design needs.
• Follow company processes and maintain a safe, organized workspace.
