Job summary

Jefferies is seeking a Data Scientist / Biostatistician to join its AI-driven biotech and pharma equity research team in New York. The role focuses on building proprietary AI, machine-learning, and statistical models to predict clinical-trial outcomes and generate differentiated investment insights.

The candidate will analyze trial design, powering and endpoints while leveraging NLP and generative AI to process publications, regulatory documents, and earnings calls.

Qualifications

• PhD, MD, or master’s degree preferred in biostatistics, statistics, data science, AI, epidemiology, bioinformatics or related fields.
• Strong Python or R skills and experience building ML, predictive, or generative-AI models.
• Solid knowledge of clinical-trial design and statistical analysis.
• Ability to explain complex quantitative findings clearly.
• Interest in biotechnology, drug development, investing and financial markets.

Responsibilities

• Build AI and statistical models to predict clinical-trial outcomes, regulatory results and commercial potential.
• Analyze trial design, endpoints, powering, populations, treatment effects, safety and subgroups.
• Use generative AI, LLMs and NLP to analyze publications, regulatory docs, trial registries, disclosures and earnings calls.
• Create automated tools to track pipelines, catalysts, competitive programs and risks.
• Translate model outputs and clinical data into clear investment conclusions.
• Collaborate with research analysts on forecasts, pipeline valuations and published research.
• Validate models and control bias, overfitting, data leakage and AI hallucinations.
