Job summary

Principal Consulting Group seeks an Accounting Systems Manager for a high-growth AI technology company in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will design and enhance accounting systems, partnering with Finance to deliver scalable solutions across GL, AP/AR, and reporting.

You will apply Python, ORM frameworks, and SQL to automate processes, improve financial data integrity, and support cost accounting and close. Collaboration with engineering and Controllership is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience building or customizing ERP/financial systems.
• Experience in accounting, inventory, or manufacturing systems preferred.
• Ability to review and test AI-generated code.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation and reconciliation.
• Solid understanding of GL, AP/AR, month-end close.
• Experience with costing, overhead allocation, COGS.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance accounting system functionality using Python, ORM frameworks, data models, views, and XML across GL, AP, AR, revenue recognition, cost accounting, tax, and close.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development while maintaining code quality, testing, and documentation.
• Partner with Finance to translate accounting requirements into specifications, workflows, and scalable solutions.
• Develop and maintain processes for costing, overhead allocations, inventory valuation, reconciliations, COGS, and financial reporting.
• Use SQL and automated testing to validate calculations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure data integrity.
• Build reporting and reconciliation capabilities linking financial systems to management reports and financial statements.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes through technology and workflow improvements.
• Document system architecture, accounting logic, workflows, and functionality for cross-team transparency.
