Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. seeks an Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead a pod of 5–15 engineers embedded with enterprise customers, owning delivery execution, engineering quality, and team development for their scope.

You will represent the FDE team to customer engineering leaders and AWS stakeholders, balancing delivery with people development while driving production AI systems that meet customer expectations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of Software Engineer or related experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environments.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to senior leadership.
• Experience building or deploying AI/ML applications in production at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery across one or more customer engagements and staff the pod for coverage; travel 30–50%.
• Provide technical oversight for customer AI programs and align with AWS best practices.
• Ensure production readiness and drive improvements to raise the operational bar.
• Hire, develop, and retain FDE talent and drive performance growth.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption within customer engagements and codify learnings.
