Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks an experienced Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead a pod of FDEs embedded with strategic enterprise customers, delivering production AI systems and coaching engineers toward career growth.

You will own pod-level outcomes, define what great delivery looks like, review architecture decisions, and elevate engineering standards across multiple concurrent customer engagements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of Software Engineer or related experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• 3+ years of Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
• Experience communicating technical concepts to senior leadership and across technical audiences

Responsibilities

• Own delivery across one or more customer engagements; staff the team and define execution cadences.
• Provide technical oversight for customer AI programs and review architecture decisions.
• Ensure operational standards, evaluation frameworks, and production readiness criteria for AI systems your team builds.
• Hire, develop, and retain FDE talent; coach junior FDEs toward independence and career growth.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption within customer engagements and codify learnings into reusable patterns.
