Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager to lead a pod of FDEs embedded with strategic enterprise customers, owning delivery execution, quality, and team growth. You will guide technical direction, ensure production readiness, and accelerate AI adoption across multiple engagements, with up to 25% travel.

US citizenship and TS/SCI clearance with polygraph are required. Lead 5–15 engineers, define what great looks like, and partner with customer engineers and AWS

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 7+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Current, active US Government Security Clearance TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• 3+ years of experience working in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to senior leadership.
• Experience with AI/ML production systems in production environments.
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead FDE pod delivery across one or more customer engagements.
• Staff and structure the team for optimal customer coverage; define execution cadences and ensure quality.
• Provide technical direction; review architecture decisions and align with customer needs and AWS best practices.
• Own production excellence; ensure production readiness criteria are met and drive improvements.
• Hire, develop, and retain FDE talent; drive performance management and career growth.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying learnings into reusable patterns for the broader practice.
