Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. seeks a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines powering its AI solutions and digital initiatives.

You will ensure enterprise data is accessible, reliable, and governed to support scalable AI deployment while collaborating with AI Engineers and platform teams. You will build ingestion pipelines, manage data stores, implement quality controls, and support retrieval patterns like RAG.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of data engineering experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; PySpark or Spark is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL).
• Familiarity with Azure AI Search, Cosmos DB, or similar services for AI retrieval/storage patterns.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and indexing for analytical and AI workloads.
• Familiarity with IaC and CI/CD for data deployments (Terraform, Azure DevOps).
• Knowledge of data governance concepts including cataloging, lineage, access control and privacy.
• Security best practices for data solutions, including encryption and RBAC.
• Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines ingesting, transforming, and delivering data for AI solutions and business apps.
• Develop and manage integrations across data sources using APIs, Graph connectors, event-driven architectures, and batch/streaming patterns.
• Build and maintain data stores and indexing to support RAG and AI analytics.
• Implement data quality, validation, and lineage controls to ensure data trustworthiness.
• Support data models underpinning Power BI dashboards and AI-enabled analytics.
• Collaborate with AI Engineers to define data contracts and meet schema, latency, and freshness requirements.
• Instrument pipelines for monitoring, alerting, cost control, and performance optimization.
• Implement data governance and security controls including access management, encryption, and privacy requirements.
• Identify data-related risks and work with architecture/platform teams on mitigations.
