Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and sustain enterprise data pipelines powering AI solutions and BI applications.

You will integrate data across sources, manage data stores, and enforce quality and governance to enable scalable AI deployment. You will work with AI Engineers, architects, and platform teams to ensure production-ready pipelines, secure data handling, and compliant data practices aligned with GEI standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of data engineering experience with production pipelines.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL; PySpark or Spark preferred.
• Experience with Azure data services: ADF, Synapse, Data Lake, SQL.
• Familiarity with Azure AI Search, Cosmos DB, and similar services.
• ETL/ELT pipelines across structured, semi-structured, unstructured data.
• Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and indexing for analytics/AI.
• IaC and CI/CD practices (Terraform, Azure DevOps).
• Data governance: cataloging, lineage, access control, privacy.
• Security best practices: encryption, RBAC, private networking.
• Databricks with Delta Lake/Unity Catalog a plus.
• Plus: experience in professional services/engineering/construction.
• Plus: Azure or Databricks certifications.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that feed AI solutions and apps.
• Develop and manage integrations across enterprise data sources using APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Build data stores and indexing for RAG and AI consumption.
• Implement data quality, validation, and lineage controls for trustworthiness.
• Support data models underpinning Power BI dashboards and AI analytics.
• Collaborate with AI Engineers to define data contracts and performance targets.
• Instrument pipelines for monitoring, cost control, and optimization.
• Implement data governance and security controls including access management.
• Identify data risks and coordinate mitigation with architecture teams.
