Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks an AI Control Systems Engineer to advance vehicle motion control for NA markets. You will develop ML-based strategies, integrate them into embedded ECUs, and validate them through simulations and in-vehicle tests with a focus on towing and off-road scenarios.

The role involves collaboration with the Vehicle Control Technology Team to push innovative control concepts from concept to prototype, enabling improved performance and user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, computer, electrical, mechanical engineering, robotics, or related field
• 1–7 years applying ML, RL, or MPC to AI-driven control
• Python and C/C++ for ML and embedded software
• Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn)
• Knowledge of RL or DL for time-series/control
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and Stateflow
• Strong foundation in classical/modern control theory
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics
• Familiarity with automotive protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet) and tools
• Strong communication, time management, and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Engineer ML solutions to replace/augment sensors for rugged conditions
• Design ML algorithms for high-stress towing/off-roading systems
• Develop ML to enhance personalized vehicle experiences across environments
• Research AI-driven control strategies (ML/RL/MPC) for vehicle performance
• Adapt AI models for embedded ECUs with real-time constraints
• Translate simulations to rapid prototyping hardware for in-vehicle use
• Participate in in-vehicle testing and tuning of control algorithms
