Job summary

Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) seeks a Manager for the Vehicle Control Technology team to shape NA vehicle intelligence, focusing on trucks, SUVs, and off-road segments.

You will lead a team of engineers, drive model-based development, collaborate with academia and R&D HQ in Korea, and guide deployment of advanced control algorithms including MPC and ML in real-world towing and off-road scenarios.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related engineering field with focus on Control Theory or Mechatronics.
• PhD in Engineering specializing in Advanced Control Systems (MPC, Adaptive, or Optimal Control).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 4–5 advanced control engineers, providing mentorship and performance evaluations.
• Oversee Control Logic Concept & Design for vehicle motion, energy management, and performance attributes for Trucks/SUVs.
• Drive Technical Innovation in applications like Advanced Towing Features and Off-road Performance.
• Establish research partnerships with top universities and research labs.
• Direct Model-Based Development workflows using MATLAB/Simulink, Simscape, and SIL testing.
• Manage departmental resources including budget allocation and software licensing.
• Collaborate with R&D HQ in South Korea to align NA development with global cycles.
• Provide technical QA: review reports, trade-offs, and business cases for leadership.
• Support cross-functional testing teams to validate prototype software in real-world scenarios.
• Occasional travel (10–15%) for testing events and partnerships.
