Job summary

Forschungszentrum Jülich seeks an AI Consultant for Science to join the AI Consulting Team at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre. You will turn theoretical AI concepts into practical ML solutions on HPC systems, collaborating with scientists across disciplines.

Your role covers ML application development, parallel training on HPC, sharing results at conferences and in papers, and contributing to educational events.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge and practical experience in AI and applied Machine Learning is a must.
• Excellent Master and preferably subsequent PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar fields.
• Broad interest in diverse scientific topics.
• Self-motivated with curiosity for multidisciplinary teamwork on challenging problems.
• Hands-on experience with ML/DL workflows and common software libraries.
• Experience with statistical machine learning, including uncertainty quantification, probabilistic modelling, and learning from noisy or incomplete data is a plus.
• Practical experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) systems is an advantage.
• Experience documented in research papers and Open Source code projects.
• Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English with extensive vocabulary, CEFR B2 level; German language knowledge is appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Identify new applications for Machine Learning in science, engineering, and technology.
• Develop, implement and refine ML techniques.
• Implement parallel ML training on the High Performance Computers.
• Engage in national and international ML/DL communities, especially Helmholtz AI platform.
• Present research results at scientific meetings, conferences, and as scientific papers.
• Contribute to educational events, such as courses and hackathons.
