Job summary

City of New York's Office of Technology and Innovation (OTI) seeks a hands-on Technical Lead to deliver mission-critical City applications in Brooklyn, leveraging modern engineering practices, automation, and AI-driven capabilities. This role emphasizes architecture, cloud services integration, and cross-team collaboration.

You will mentor teams, drive AI initiatives, and ensure reliable deployments in a 24/7 operation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science from an accredited college or university with 3+ years in IT leadership roles.
• Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of progressively responsible IT experience in applications/development.
• However, all candidates must have at least a four-year high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in Java-based environments and ensure best practices in development.
• Architect AI-driven solutions including agentic workflows to optimize City operations.
• Apply MCP and RAG to real-world workflows and City use cases.
• Lead DevOps automation initiatives to improve deployment efficiency and reliability.
• Integrate cloud-native services, AI tooling, and automation frameworks into existing apps.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver solutions on time.
• Demonstrate hands-on automation and AI components, including agentic behaviors and cloud services.
• Oversee special projects and initiatives as assigned.
