Job summary

Proofpoint is hiring an AI Automation Engineer to design and evolve AI-driven tools for post-sales teams, including chat assistants and workflow automation. You will collaborate with AI Integration, Data, and enablement teams to turn ideas into high-impact capabilities.

The role emphasizes rapid AI innovation, hands-on implementation, and working across Salesforce, Gainsight/Totango, and AWS within a fast-paced environment. Hybrid work is available in the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience building AI applications with demonstrated results
• Experience in GTM, ideally within post-sales functions such as Customer Success
• Strong command of advanced prompt engineering; understands how to construct context that drives accurate, reliable model output
• Experience architecting multi-agent systems optimized for performance, reliability, and scale
• Hands-on experience with enterprise orchestration platforms and LLM platforms
• Familiarity with CS tech stack including Salesforce, Gainsight/Totango, Clari, Gong, Pendo, Snowflake/Redshift, AWS, Power BI

Responsibilities

• Evolve AI chat assistants for specific personas (e.g., CSM, Renewals).
• Design and build AI-driven workflow automations with enterprise orchestration platforms.
• Optimize AI system performance; determine what belongs in prompts vs. code.
• Integrate AI capabilities with the broader CS tech stack (Salesforce, Gong, etc.).
• Define human-in-the-loop guardrails and monitoring for agentic systems.
• Work with AI Integration and Data teams to expand data access and connectivity.
