Job summary

EY is seeking a senior AI/Applied ML engineer to build autonomous agents and production-grade workflows. You will design agent architectures, tool interfaces, and robust execution loops that operate across complex enterprise integrations while staying steerable and safe.

You will join Challenger Core, a team delivering reusable patterns, risk guardrails, and scalable AI capabilities across EY. Travel up to 50% and hybrid work are expected; strong production experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 7–9 years of software or applied ML engineering experience with live production systems.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping LLM/agent workflows.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and agent architectures with measured complexity.
• Build dependable tools and interfaces with clear contracts and safe failures.
• Engineer agent behavior across planning, routing, delegation, retry and handoff.
• Create durable context from instructions, state, retrieval and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and approval points.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified outcomes.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and safe rollback.
• Make behavior observable via end-to-end tracing and replay.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points and safe resumption.
• Build shared capability with cross-team collaboration and reusable patterns.
