Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks an AI Agent Engineer to design and build agents that investigate production issues and generate actionable recommendations. You will connect agents to CoreMesh data and plant systems, ensure sources are shown, and handle confidence and data gaps with human handoffs.

The role is onsite four or more days per week at Kentucky Truck Plant, with hybrid flexibility. You will collaborate with supervisors and engineers, test agent performance, and iterate to improve accuracy,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/DS/Engineering/Stats
• 3+ years in data science, ML engineering, or software engineering with production work
• Hands-on experience building with large language models and agent frameworks
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Experience designing experiments and evaluating model output

Responsibilities

• Build agents that classify issues, plan investigations, call tools, and draft recommendations
• Design multi-step and multi-agent workflows with clear hand-offs and stopping rules
• Write and maintain prompts, tool definitions, and retrieval logic
• Connect agents to production, quality, and maintenance data and to CoreMesh, ATP's ontology and knowledge graph
• Rank and filter evidence so agents reason on the right sources and show sources with outputs
• Flag low confidence or missing data and hand off to a person
• Test agents against evaluation sets and improve performance
• Spend time with Kentucky Truck Plant supervisors and engineers to see problems firsthand
