Job summary

EY is seeking a senior engineer to shape the future of AI agents and production workflows. You will own end-to-end agent architectures, tool integrations, and observable behavior across long-running, enterprise-grade processes.

The role emphasizes safety, controllability, and collaboration across product, security, and evaluation teams. Ideal candidates have 7–9 years in software or applied ML, hands-on delivery of large language model applications, and strong Python/TypeScript skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• 7-9 years of software or applied ML engineering with production systems.
• Hands-on evidence of deploying LLM apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Strong programming in Python, TypeScript, or equivalent production languages.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Experience with asynchronous work, state, concurrency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority for apps/workloads.
• Demonstrated ability to improve live systems via traces, metrics, and incident analysis.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model for agents based on measurable performance.
• Build dependable tools and interfaces with clear contracts and safe errors.
• Engineer agent behavior including planning, routing, delegation, and retries.
• Create durable context from instructions, state, memory, and feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified outcomes and safety.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and graceful degradation.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end tracing and replay for learning.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points for inspection and resume.
• Build shared capability by partnering across product, platform, knowledge, security, and evaluation teams.
