General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Plant Manager will be responsible for the manufacturing and administrative aspects of managing and leading a plant. As the leader of Facilities Operations, this individual will oversee all staff operations to ensure employee safety, efficient handling of ingredients, processing activities, and shipments of finished products.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Minimum five years experience managing in pet food/food/feed mill or manufacturing settings.
  • Experience in a union environment is a plus.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing production practices and best practices.
  • Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication, relationship building, and staff development skills.
  • Proven problem-solving capacity in complex environments.
  • Ability to manage production costs effectively.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Collaborative skills with cross-functional departments.
  • Experience implementing and overseeing Food Safety and worker safety policies.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant industry or equivalent experience.

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Implement and support all company policies, including food and worker safety.
  • Ensure product quality meets customer and manufacturing standards.
  • Coordinate with other functions to ensure compliance with Food Safety, FDA, OSHA, and legal requirements.
  • Manage daily operations, resource planning, and oversee all plant functions.
  • Supervise staff and manage multiple direct reports.
  • Coordinate activities related to production, purchase, distribution, and customer service.
  • Establish performance metrics and control systems; identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Manage operating expenses and assist in budget preparation.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting engagement.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures for asset utilization.
  • Oversee infrastructure and maintain a safe, secure, and well-maintained facility.
  • Determine staffing needs, conduct hiring, and oversee training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary ranges from $89,400 to $125,280, depending on location, skills, and experience. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and benefits including vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, and a 7% employer contribution to 401(k).
