Job summary

Michigan State University Extension in Michigan is seeking staff to provide hands-on agricultural education to youth, primarily using the National Agriculture in the Classroom curriculum. The role covers Wayne County, including Detroit, and focuses on engaging youth ages 5–19 through in-school, after-school, and special programming.

You will promote participation, ensure safety, and support programming with setup, check-ins, and on-site activities. Travel and use of technology are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and some experience with working with youth and/or volunteering.
• Experience with Agriculture is a plus.
• Proven ability in establishing and working with a network of constituents across diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrated success in program development and delivery to diverse communities.
• Ability to lift and carry educational materials up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on educational opportunities for youth related to agriculture using the National Agriculture in the Classroom curriculum.
• Deliver programs in Wayne County, including Detroit.
• Conduct direct programming with youth (5–19 years) and promote participation in activities.
• Ensure safety of children, visitors and co-workers; assist with setup and breakdown and other duties as assigned.
