Job summary

Lakeside Foods Inc. is seeking skilled field maintenance mechanics to keep our harvesters and related equipment running efficiently in the Owatonna area.

The role involves outdoor work during summer and indoor work in winter, with opportunities to train others and contribute to a safe, productive field team. Responsibilities include operating and supervising harvest operations, performing maintenance, and assisting in planting and harvesting.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with preventative maintenance and harvesting procedures is preferred; on-the-job training may be provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate pea and corn harvesters and related field equipment to support planting and harvesting operations.
• Supervise field operations and train newer employees in safe, proper equipment use.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs during off-season; overhaul machinery as needed.

Field maintenance mechanics/technicians are respected team members, performing preventative maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on our harvesting equipment such as pea harvesters and sweet corn harvesters. What You’ll Do:

• Harvest season (June - October)
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the pea harvesters, sweet corn harvesters, and any other equipment used in our planting and harvesting operations.
  • Serve as a supervisor/mechanic for field operations. Train other field employees in the safe, proper, and efficient operation of field equipment.
  • Assist in the planting and harvesting of crops.
• Preventative Maintenance Season (November – May):
• Overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations.
• Maintain Lakeside company vehicles.

What You’ll Bring:

• Prior experience with preventative maintenance, machine adjustments, and harvesting procedures is preferred, willing to provide on the job training
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Valid driver’s license is required, CDL a plus
• Strong work ethic
• Safety mindset
