Job summary

Lakeside Foods in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Field Maintenance Mechanic to operate and supervise harvesting equipment during peak season and perform preventative maintenance year-round. The role offers outdoor work in summer and indoor tasks in winter, with opportunities for training and advancement.

Responsibilities include maintaining pea and corn harvesters, training staff on safe operation, and performing repairs. A valid driver’s license is required; CDL is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
• Prior experience with preventative maintenance, machine adjustments and harvesting procedures is preferred; on-the-job training available.
• Safety mindset and strong work ethic are essential.

• Harvest season (June–October): ensure efficient operation of pea and sweet corn harvesters and related planting/harvesting equipment; supervise/mechanic field operations and train other field employees.
• Preventative maintenance season (November–May): overhaul and repair machinery and vehicles; maintain Lakeside company vehicles.

Field maintenance mechanics/technicians are respected team members, performing preventative maintenance, adjustments, and repairs on our harvesting equipment such as pea harvesters and sweet corn harvesters. What You'll Do:

• Harvest season (June - October)
  • Responsible for the efficient operation of the pea harvesters, sweet corn harvesters, and any other equipment used in our planting and harvesting operations.
  • Serve as a supervisor/mechanic for field operations. Train other field employees in the safe, proper, and efficient operation of field equipment.
  • Assist in the planting and harvesting of crops.
• Preventative Maintenance Season (November - May):
  • Overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations.
  • Maintain Lakeside company vehicles.

What You'll Bring:

• Prior experience with preventative maintenance, machine adjustments, and harvesting procedures is preferred, willing to provide on the job training
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
• Valid driver's license is required, CDL a plus
