Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking workers to operate tractors and associated equipment, perform field chores, and handle post-harvest tasks in North Dakota. You will work with GPS-enabled machinery and assist with loading, transporting, and storing crops under diverse weather conditions.

The role requires basic English literacy, the ability to obtain a driver's license within 30 days, and a few months of prior farm experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, grade, sort, store and post-harvest crops; load and move crops to bins, trailers, and storage facilities.
• Operate tractors and self-propelled machinery, including GPS-enabled equipment, for soil and crop operations.
• Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and machinery as needed.
• Load inputs and transport crops to fields and storage facilities; keep work areas clean and safe.

Job description

Duties may include: Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops such as working with bins and augers to load carts and trailers; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as soybeans, sunflower, and corn; Load inputs and drive trucks to fields, load crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Haul and spread fertilizer and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Guide crops on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, discard rotten crops & other related Agricultural Equipment Operator activities as per SOC/OES 45-2091 (onetonline.org).

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections. All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food.

Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) Continued in Addendum C.

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending, or repetitive movements.
