• Write epics that define business outcomes rather than system changes, focusing on the flexibility the platform must support.
• Design for configurability by avoiding early commitments to specific rates, states or market rules.
• Apply vertical slicing to deliver the thinnest end-to-end path through the user journey first, then expand scope incrementally.
• Maintain rigorous traceability, ensuring every story aligns to a portfolio epic and a measurable success indicator.
• Translate technical concepts into plain language for nontechnical business partners to make informed decisions.
• Define, prioritize and ensure a ready backlog of work for a smaller scale product team, accept final product output.
