Job summary

The Shelly Company in Ohio is offering an Aggregate Project Engineer Intern position to gain exposure across our aggregate mining business and related lines of business. You will collaborate with stakeholders and the Project Management Team on projections, reports, and capital projects, while learning administrative processes and safety practices.

You will be developing skills in report preparation, document control, and material knowledge, with opportunities to work nights or weekends as needed

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• Two to four years of related experience or training, or equivalent.
• Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Work with key stakeholders to determine solutions to common issues.
• Work with Project Management Team on monthly projections and capital projects.
• Learn administrative requirements of the business through hands-on experience.
• Learn the importance of taking detailed messages and timely communication.
• Work with multiple departments on special projects as needed.
• Assist Project Management team with ongoing and future Capital Projects: report preparation, project forecasts, schedules, milestones, and coordination with stakeholders.
• Assist Project Management team with improvement opportunities for document control (cost management, construction drawings, etc.).
• Look for ways to deploy latest technology to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.
• Shadow operations personnel to learn planning and aggregate objectives.
• Learn objectives of aggregate sales by understanding materials available in quarries and pits.
• Assist in preparation of reports for Senior Leadership.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field

Two to four years related experience or training

Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, manuals)

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
