Job summary

CalPortland is seeking an Aggregate Dredge Mechanic for our Oregon facilities. The role focuses on safe repair and maintenance of hydrolic cutter suction dredge and mining equipment including crushers, conveyors, and wash systems.

Pre- and post-shift inspections and daily documentation are required. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, lifting up to 100 lbs, and the ability to operate in wet/dry and extreme temperatures.

The Aggregate Dredge Mechanic is responsible for safe repair and maintenance of hydrolic cutter suction dredge and mining equipment typically found in an aggregate facility including crushers, screen decks, conveyors, drums, etc. The Dredge Mechanic is expected to complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, submit required daily documentation and assist in plant operations as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Safety Sensitive Swing Shift Position
• Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Provide own tools typically used in aggregate facility maintenance
• Physical requirements: able to lift or move up to 100 lbs., stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, kneel, crouch, and drive on rough terrain
• Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
• Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills
• Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers and various other types of fixed equipment used in the industry
• Proficient in welding and cutting
• Proficient operator of forklift, man lift, cranes and boom trucks
• Experience operating heavy equipment used in aggregate facilities (loaders, dozers, road graders) preferred
• Current MSHA training certification preferred

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Safety sensitive positions and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulated require ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
