Job summary

CalPortland's Snoqualmie, WA plant is seeking a Plant Mechanic to safely repair and maintain mining equipment such as crushers, screen decks, conveyors and drums. The role includes pre-shift and post-shift inspections and accurate daily documentation.

Responsibilities include safety inspections, housekeeping, driving to facilities for maintenance, troubleshooting to minimize costs, and following MSHA rules. Physical demands include lifting up to 100 lbs and working in tough conditions at times.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Own tools typically used in aggregate facility maintenance.
• Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and perform required tasks.
• Able to work in wet/dry conditions and extreme heat/cold.
• Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills.
• Experience with crushers, wash plants, conveyors and other fixed equipment.
• Welding and cutting proficiency.
• Proficient with heavy equipment like forklifts, lifts and cranes.
• Experience operating heavy equipment in aggregate facilities preferred.
• MSHA training certification preferred.

The Plant Mechanic is responsible for safe repair and maintenance of mining equipment typically found in an aggregate facility including crushers, screen decks, conveyors, drums, etc. The Plant Mechanic is expected to complete pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, submit required daily documentation and assist in plant operations as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Provide own tools typically used in aggregate facility maintenance
• Physical requirements: able to lift or move up to 100 lbs., stand, walk, climb, bend, stretch, kneel, crouch, and drive on rough terrain
• Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold
• Strong communication, problem solving and leadership skills
• Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of crushers, wash plants, conveyors, material washers and various other types of fixed equipment used in the industry
• Proficient in welding and cutting
• Proficient operator of forklift, man lift, cranes and boom trucks
• Experience operating heavy equipment used in aggregate facilities (loaders, dozers, road graders) preferred
• Current MSHA training certification preferred

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing. For work that will be performed in the San Francisco area, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for employment.
