Job summary

Cohere Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer with Applied AI to build and deploy agentic workflows powered by Large Language Models for enterprise customers.

You will partner with client teams to translate complex problems into actionable, scalable AI workflows that integrate with tools, APIs, and data sources. The role blends backend AI work with customer-facing collaboration in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building and deploying production‑grade software in Python, with clean, testable, observable, scalable code.
• Built and deployed high‑performance RAG and agentic applications using LLMs and tools.
• Familiar with the LLM stack: frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
• Proven ability to build robust evaluation frameworks to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency.
• Experience working directly with customers and leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders.
• Experience owning the full scope of a use case end-to-end.
• Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Translate high‑value, ambiguous business problems into well‑framed agentic workflows with clear success criteria.
• Lead design, build, and delivery of LLM‑powered agents that reason, plan, and act across tools, APIs, and sensitive data with reliability.
• Build and ship features for Cohere's North platform across the full product lifecycle from concept to production.
• Own scoping of use cases end-to-end, willing to extend into frontend when needed.
• Contribute to shared frameworks and patterns to enable high‑quality delivery.
• Drive clarity in ambiguity and raise engineering quality across the org.
• Travel up to 20–40% to work on-site with customers and partners.
