Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a full-stack software engineer to build agentic modeling and simulation systems for operational planning. You’ll work at the intersection of AI, backend systems, and mission software to shorten planning cycles by delivering physics-backed simulation and AI-assisted planning.

You will collaborate with warfighters and engineers to translate ambiguous workflows into reliable software, ensuring observability, safety, and real-time analysis in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Strong production software engineering experience building backend services, APIs, platforms, or integrations around complex stateful systems.
• Hands-on experience building AI/ML or LLM-powered software, including tool/function calling, RAG, structured outputs, agent orchestration, or model evaluation.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or a similar backend language, with ability to work across service boundaries.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
• Ability to work with operators, warfighters, and SMEs to translate needs into requirements.
• Strong judgment around reliability, safety, observability, and debugging for AI systems in high-stakes environments.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build agentic workflows accessible through natural language, tools, APIs, and operator-focused experiences.
• Design multi-agent architectures modeling human decision-making and adversary responses across complex operations.
• Integrate LLM tool use, function calling, retrieval, planning loops, and evaluation with simulation engines and planning systems.
• Build backend services and interfaces for scenario creation, entity tasking, simulation state retrieval, COAs, and real-time analysis.
• Collaborate with warfighters, model/sim experts, autonomy engineers, and mission software teams to translate workflows into software.
• Improve observability, reproducibility, and evaluation for agent behavior so scenarios are inspectable and actionable.
• Learn and apply DoD modeling tools like AFSIM and STORM.
