Job summary

Sonatype in Atlanta is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of agentic-first capabilities in Nexus Repository Manager, setting technical direction and mentoring engineers to scale secure software supply chains. This role focuses on multi-agent orchestration, architecture, security, reliability, and cross-functional leadership with Product, Security, UX, and Support.

You'll work with senior engineers to define practices, evals, and tooling while shaping the roadmap

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development and leadership across multi-quarter initiatives.
• Strong experience with Java, cloud platforms, and large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep knowledge of software supply chain security concepts (SBOM, SCA, provenance).

Responsibilities

• Architect & Lead With Agents: drive design of major agentic-first subsystems and multi-agent workflows.
• Own a Product Area: lead major initiatives from problem statements to rollout and operability.
• Verification‑first: focus on direction, review, and guardrails over line-by-line coding.
• Define the Practice: establish internal playbooks, tooling, and engineering rituals.
• Architecture, Security & Reliability: own performance, reliability and SBOM/security concerns.
• Cross-functional Leadership: collaborate with Product, Security Research, UX and Support.
