Job summary

Nexus One is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to shape the technical direction of our data platform and mentor engineers across the organization. This senior role partners with engineering leadership, analytics, and product stakeholders to ensure scalable, reliable data infrastructure that supports AI-driven business decisions.

You will drive architecture standards, guide data modeling, and lead cross-team initiatives to improve developer velocity and platform reliability in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional data engineering experience.
• Experience leading the architecture of complex data platforms end-to-end.
• Strong SQL and at least one data ENG language (Python/Scala/Java).
• Experience mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical architecture and long-term roadmap for the data platform.
• Lead design of large-scale, high-reliability data pipelines across teams.
• Set engineering standards for data modeling, testing, observability, and pipeline design.
• Mentor and guide senior/mid-level data engineers.
• Evaluate and introduce new tools and platforms to improve scalability and velocity.
• Partner with engineering, product, and analytics leadership to align investments with priorities.
• Lead root-cause analysis for cross-system data incidents and fixes.
• Represent the data engineering function in cross-org architecture discussions.
