Job summary

Straddle is hiring an Agentic Engineer who builds by directing AI coding agents and owns the outcome. You will turn ambiguous problems into precise specs, decompose work for parallel agents, and review what they ship with a high bar. Security and correctness are non-negotiable as you shape how Straddle engineers with agents.

You will lead specs, verify results, and ensure scalable, compliant payments infrastructure while mentoring teammates and driving a culture of disciplined engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering fundamentals with 5+ years building production software.
• Hands-on agentic experience using tools like Claude Code or Cursor agent mode.
• Specification and decomposition: breaking problems down for agents.
• Verification mindset: testing and correctness with debugging skills.
• High-rigor review: ability to review code you didn’t author.
• Communication and teamwork: strong writing and collaboration skills.
• Comfort with non-determinism and evaluating outputs.

Responsibilities

• Spec before you build: turn intent into precise specs and acceptance criteria.
• Decompose features into agent-sized tasks and slice work effectively.
• Direct and orchestrate multiple agents across features and backlog.
• Own verification: build tests, builds, and checks for agent self-correction.
• Review at volume: assess agent diffs for correctness, security, performance.
• Improve the system: maintain shared context and tooling for agents.
• Security and compliance: apply fintech controls and secure coding practices.
• Set the standard: establish conventions and coach the team on specs and review.
