Job summary

OpenAI is seeking an Agent Standards Manager to lead external technical standards strategy across agent identity, discovery, and delegated-authorization. You will collaborate with Security, Platform, Product, Legal, and Global Affairs to translate architecture into credible specifications and drive alignment with roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in technical standards, internet protocols, identity and access, and security architecture.
• Experience shaping normative specifications, profiles, drafts, or conformance requirements in standards or governance settings.
• Ability to reason about OAuth, OIDC, FIDO, WebAuth, delegated authority, and auditability.

Responsibilities

• Own a focused workstream plan for core agent identity, discovery, and delegated-authorization standards.
• Develop technical standards positions and normative contributions.
• Shape requirements for delegation, attenuation, step-up approval, revocation, and provenance.
• Embed with security and engineering teams to translate internal architecture into credible specifications.
• Lead review paths across Product, Security, Engineering, Legal, and GRC; maintain mandates and dependencies.
• Represent OpenAI in priority venues and coalitions; build trust with standards bodies and public-sector stakeholders.
• Bring external standards intelligence back into product and roadmap decisions early.
• Create reusable playbooks and handoffs to reduce key-person risk.
