Job summary

OpenAI in New York seeks an Agent Standards Manager to drive external standards strategy for agent identity, delegation, and related protocols. You will collaborate with Security, Platform, Product, Legal, GRC, and Global Affairs to turn architecture into credible specifications and assurance evidence—and to represent OpenAI in priority technical forums.

This builder role shapes roadmaps early, translates requirements, negotiates outcomes with internal teams, and ensures repeatable processes

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in technical standards, internet protocols, or security architecture.
  • Authored or shaped normative specifications or conformance requirements in standards/governance.
  • Ability to reason about OAuth, OIDC, FIDO, and related identity/security concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Own a focused workstream plan for agent identity, discovery, and delegated-authorization standards.
  • Develop technical standards positions and normative contributions.
  • Translate internal architecture into credible specifications, profiles, and assurance evidence.
  • Lead cross-functional review paths with Product, Security, Legal, and GTM.
  • Represent OpenAI in priority venues and coalitions (IETF, OAuth, FIDO, W3C).
  • Create repeatable processes and handoffs to reduce key-person risk.
