Job summary

OpenAI seeks an Agent Standards Architect to lead external technical standards strategy for key agent workstreams. You will translate internal architecture into credible specifications, author protocols, and build coalitions with security, product, and legal teams.

You will represent OpenAI in venues like IETF, OAuth, FIDO, and W3C, shaping requirements for delegated authority, provenance, and auditability while ensuring alignment with product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• Experience in technical standards, internet protocols, identity and access, or security architecture.
• Authored or shaped normative specifications, profiles, or conformance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own a focused workstream plan for agent identity, discovery, and delegated-authorization standards.
• Develop technical standards positions and normative contributions for OpenAI's workstreams.
• Embed with security and product teams to translate architecture into credible specifications and guidance.
• Lead review paths across Product, Security, Engineering, Legal, and Global Affairs; manage owners and dependencies.
• Represent OpenAI in priority venues and coalitions and build external trust with standards bodies.
