Farmers Insurance | Ben Smith Agency | San Diego, CA is seeking an Agent in Training to start a sales career with room to grow. You’ll receive structured onboarding, hands-on coaching, and tools to develop insurance knowledge while building a long-term career in the industry.

Qualifications

• Sales experience preferred and track record of meeting goals.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Self-motivated with persistence and resilience.
• Willingness to obtain Property & Casualty license.
• Comfortable with outbound calls and lead follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Connect with prospects through agency leads, referrals, and outreach.
• Assess customer needs and current coverage to tailor quotes.
• Prepare quotes and recommend Auto, Home, Life, and Business insurance.
• Maintain an active sales pipeline and follow up with leads.
• Ask for the sale and handle customer questions and objections.
• Build long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
• Cross-sell additional products and coverage where appropriate.
• Work toward individual production goals and agency growth.
• Track activity using agency systems and participate in coaching.

What You'll Do

• Connect with prospective customers through agency leads, referrals, phone outreach, and other prospecting efforts
• Ask questions to understand each customer's needs, priorities, and current coverage
• Prepare quotes and recommend Auto, Home, Life, Business, and other insurance solutions
• Follow up consistently with leads and manage an active sales pipeline
• Confidently ask for the sale and work through customer questions and objections
• Build long‑term relationships with new and existing customers
• Identify opportunities to cross‑sell additional products and coverage
• Work toward individual production goals and contribute to overall agency growth
• Track leads, customer conversations, and follow‑up activity using agency systems
• Participate in ongoing sales coaching, product training, and professional development

What We're Looking For

• Previous sales experience strongly preferred
• Proven ability to work toward goals and measurable performance expectations
• Confident and professional communication skills
• Comfortable with frequent outbound phone calls and consistent follow‑up
• Ability to build rapport and establish trust with prospective customers
• Self‑motivated, competitive, and persistent
• Comfortable hearing "no" and continuing to pursue the next opportunity
• Coachable and receptive to feedback
• Strong organization and time‑management skills
• Property & Casualty license preferred, or willingness to obtain the required licensing

Training & Development

You'll receive structured onboarding, ongoing coaching, and hands‑on development to help you build confidence in both insurance and sales. You'll learn how to manage a pipeline, conduct effective customer conversations, recommend appropriate coverage, and turn opportunities into long‑term client relationships.
