Job summary

The Ohio Adjutant General’s Department seeks an Agency Information Security Professional 2 in Columbus to help secure agency networks and systems. You will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security measures while communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences.

You will collaborate across teams, coordinate security activities, and support endpoint configurations, patching, and compliance in a mission-driven environment supporting the Ohio National Guard.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 48 months of experience in computer data security through monitoring traffic, systems development, or data access control.
  • Associate core program in computer science with at least 30 months of related training or experience.
  • Undergraduate core program in computer science with at least 24 months of related training or experience.
  • Graduate core program in computer science with at least 12 months of related training or experience.
  • Equivalent minimum qualifications for employment as noted.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and administer the agency's information security program.
  • Serve as the agency's Security Point of Contact.
  • Monitor statewide IT policy compliance.
  • Coordinate security and incident response.
  • Administer endpoint management and security technologies (e.g., MS Intune, Endpoint Configuration Manager).
  • Support development, testing, and maintenance of secure endpoint configurations and baselines.
  • Coordinate patching, updates, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint compliance activities.
  • Support security configuration and monitoring of network, cloud, and virtual environments.
  • Support state network migration with secure endpoints, systems, apps, and data.
  • Support identity and access management activities (e.g., MS Entra, MIM, security groups, lifecycle).
  • Conduct security risk assessments and track vulnerabilities and risks.
  • Provide technical security guidance regarding risks, compliance, vulnerabilities, and posture.
  • Coordinate with OIT, vendors, and partners for secure, reliable technology solutions.

Job Description

The Ohio Adjutant General’s Department is seeking a highly skilled, service-minded professional to serve as an Agency Information Security Professional 2 on the IGIS team within the Adjutant General's office. In this role, the Agency Information Security Professional assists the enterprise security office with the secure configuration of agency computer networks and systems by planning, implementing, upgrading, and monitoring security measures according to enterprise level practices at Department of Administrative Services (DAS).

The preferred candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. They will also demonstrate a proven ability to collaborate across teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinates and administers the agency's information security program
  • Serves as the agency's Security Point of Contact
  • Monitors the agency's compliance with state-wide IT policies
  • Coordinates security and incident response
  • Administer endpoint management and security technologies (e.g., MS Intune, Endpoint Configuration Manager)
  • Support development, testing, and maintenance of secure endpoint configurations and security baselines
  • Coordinate patching, operations system updates, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint compliance activities
  • Support security configuration and monitoring of network, cloud, and virtual environments.
  • Support agency’s state network migration, including secure implementation of endpoints, systems, applications, and data
  • Support identity and access management activities (e.g., MS Entra, MIM, security groups, account lifecycle management)
  • Conduct security risk assessments and track vulnerabilities, migration activities, and identified risks
  • Provide technical security guidance and recommendations regarding risks, compliance, vulnerabilities, and system security posture
  • Coordinated with OIT, vendors, and other partners to support secure and reliable technology solutions

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for this classification include one of the following:

  • 48 mos. exp. in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
  • Completion of associate core program in computer science AND at least 30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. exp. in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science AND at least 24 mos. trg. or 24 mos. exp. in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
  • Completion of graduate core program in computer science AND at least 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in computer data security either through monitoring system/network traffic for anomalous activity, systems development or controlling accessibility of data.
  • Have at least 12 mos. exp. as Agency Information Security Professional 1 with the State of Ohio.
  • The equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Pursuant to Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 12 (HSPD 12), the final candidate selected for this position will be required to successfully complete a National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) to secure employment.

Salary Information

This position is assigned as a pay range 35 of the State of Ohio’s OCSEA pay schedule, with a starting hourly rate of $ 41.81 and current range up to $ 61.49 per hour. Starting pay is usually at the minimum of the range unless otherwise required by law or union contract, or unless the selected candidate's qualifications warrant consideration above the minimum.

With continued employment and satisfactory performance, employees generally advance to the next pay step after six (6) months and then annually thereafter. Cost-of-living adjustments are typically applied on July 1.
