Job summary

State of Ohio seeks a Software Development Specialist 2 in Columbus to design, develop, and implement software applications for environmental data systems. Qualifications

  • 48 mos. combined work experience in systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, testing and documenting, plus 12 mos. in the primary technology as specified by the position description.
  • OR completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 30 mos. combined work experience in systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, testing and documenting, including 12 mos. in the primary technology as specified by the position description.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; AND 24 mos. combined work experience in systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, testing and documenting, including 12 mos. in the primary technology as specified by the position description.
  • OR equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

What We Need YOU To Do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest software developer specialist in the Office of Information Technology Services at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio.

In your new position as a software developer specialist, you will develop software applications and perform analysis and design while working with business personnel to identify and document system software requirements. You will identify problems and develop potential solutions and perform postproduction support for business applications that might include routine maintenance, enhancements, and the need to perform research to help in troubleshooting software production errors.

You will conduct testing and help in supporting user acceptance testing. You will perform software implementation tasks, including source control and deployment activities. You will help with the development, implementation, and monitoring of IT quality assurance standards and testing, and help with the documentation of appropriate standards and criteria for acceptable programming and systems.

You will communicate with peers and guide the performance of software development tasks per verbal instructions. You are going to participate in discussions on technical topics in support of software development and summarize the information.
