Job summary

Butler Machinery Company and ButlerMAX program seek motivated students for a two-year Diesel Technology track through Lake Area Technical College (LATC) in Watertown, SD, with paid internships at our stores. Graduates earn an AAS in Diesel Technology and can transition to full-time technician roles at our dealerships across ND, SD, NE, and MT.

The program combines classroom and lab education with rotations and real-world internships, emphasizing safety, hands-on learning, and career advancement

Qualifications

• High school junior or senior applicants eligible to apply.
• Program start requires HS diploma or GED.
• Must be 18+ by first internship and able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient computer technology skills and organizational ability.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 while in the program.
• Complete required internship hours (1,280).
• Be prepared, on time, and present for work and school.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Work independently and in a team.
• Tuition, books, housing, tools and fees not covered by the scholarship.
• Arrange housing at school and internship location.
• Commit to lifelong learning and training to stay ahead of industry standards.
• Must lift up to 70 lbs.
• Other duties as assigned.
