Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead to oversee a licensed school-age program, ensuring safety, support, and engagement for children daily. You will coordinate operations, implement the YMCA curriculum, and collaborate with families, school partners, and staff.

Ideal candidates bring 1+ year of youth work in licensed settings, CPR/First Aid/AED, and strong planning skills to drive program quality.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED with 70 clock hours training in child or youth development, recreation leadership or management.
• One year of experience with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state and FBI background checks.
• Current TB test and health screenings per regulations.

Responsibilities

• Keep Children Safe by maintaining supervision, headcounts, attendance, and emergency responses.
• Site Management as Texas Site Director for safety and licensing compliance.
• Supervision and Safety with accurate records and incident reporting.
• Behavior Management to promote respectful environments.
• Program & Policy Compliance with health and safety, confidentiality and postings.
• Program Planning and Implementation of age-appropriate activities per curriculum.
• Parent and Community Engagement with regular updates and inquiries.
• Administrative Duties including enrollment and attendance records.
• Program Growth and Retention through enrollment strategies and satisfaction.
• Program Quality via lesson plans and adherence to standards.
• Program Evaluation using monitoring to improve participation and outcomes.
• Child Abuse Prevention through reporting and safety policies.

Education

High school diploma or GED

70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management

Two college courses are equivalent to 100 clock hours
