Job summary

Volunteers-of-America is seeking a Youth Development Professional for an afterschool program in Sioux Falls, SD. The role focuses on supervision, safety, and engaging activities to support student growth, with a target of four monthly lesson plans and transportation duties as needed.

The position requires a High School Diploma or state education equivalency, a valid driver’s license, and being at least 18 years old. Work hours are Monday–Friday with some extended hours when necessary.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma and/or state education requirements required.
• Experience: Previous experience working with at-risk youth and/or families
• Licenses: Valid driver's license required
• Other Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Supervise elementary students in a safe and enriching environment.
• Provide active supervision of students, defined as being close enough to see, hear and intervene.
• Plan a minimum of four lesson plans per month as assigned by Site Coordinator and submit for approval.
• Facilitate academic, recreational and/or social-emotional lessons as assigned by Site Coordinator.
• Complete van driver duties and provide safe transportation home for students.
• Clean and organize afterschool spaces to ensure safety and development.
• Help students with personal hygiene as needed.
• Track attendance, snack records and participation; assist with data collection and reporting as requested.
